Lighted Christmas Yard Figures: Sizes, Styles and Scene Building
A guide to lighted reindeer, sleighs, trees, archways and figures. Learn how to choose sizes, group pieces into a scene and plan a better yard display.

Now that the lights are packed away, it's the perfect moment to think about what worked in your yard this year and what felt a little empty. If you found yourself admiring a neighbor's glowing reindeer or a lit-up sleigh scene, lighted yard figures might be the upgrade you're after.
Unlike inflatables, lighted figures are usually built on metal or acrylic frames wrapped in lights, tinsel or fabric. They glow softly at night, look tidy during the day and many fold flat for storage. Here's how to choose sizes, mix styles and build a scene that tells a story.
Why Lighted Figures Work So Well
- They stay put. Frames sit low and stake down, so there's no fan to keep running.
- They look good in daylight. Tinsel, glitter and acrylic still catch the sun.
- They stack into scenes. A single reindeer is sweet. A reindeer family pulling a sleigh is a moment.
- Many pack flat. Pull-up and collapsible designs make storage much easier than you'd expect.
Understanding Sizes
Before you shop, grab a tape measure and walk your yard. Think about what the figure will be seen against and how far away people will be when they see it.
Small: Under 3 Feet
Small figures shine along walkways, on porch steps and in front of taller pieces. The 35 in Lighted Reindeer and Sleigh has a reindeer about 17.75 in tall and a sleigh about 9.5 in tall, with 192 warm white LEDs on an IP44-rated steel frame. It's just the right size for a porch step or a flower bed near the door.
The Set of 2 Pre-Lit Running Snowmen adds playful motion to a small space, with 120 warm white LEDs on a rustproof frame.
Medium: 3 to 5 Feet
Medium figures are the workhorses of a yard display. They read clearly from the sidewalk without overwhelming a smaller lawn.
The 42 in Pre-Lit Tinsel Snowman wears a hat, scarf and carrot nose and includes 4 ground stakes and 10 zip ties. The 4.2 ft Lighted Snowman with Redbirds glows with 70 cool white LEDs, sets up without tools and comes with 2 metal ground stakes. The Set of 2 Pre-Lit Pull-Up Penguins stand about 38 in and 24.8 in tall, which makes a sweet parent-and-child pair.
Large: 5 Feet and Up
Large figures are your anchors, the pieces people see from down the block. The 6 ft Pre-Lit Pull-Up Santa Holding a Bell glows with 200 warm white LEDs and collapses flat for storage. The 5 ft Pre-Lit Christmas Angel with Harp has 120 cool white LEDs, a 16.5 ft cord and comes with 4 ground stakes, which makes it a peaceful centerpiece for a front garden.

Lighted Reindeer: The Classic Choice
Few things say Christmas like a glowing reindeer on the lawn. The key choice is finish.
- Sparkly fabric. The 3-Piece Lighted Reindeer Family Set includes a buck, doe and fawn in silver fabric with 290 warm white LEDs. The rustproof frames collapse for storage.
- Glitter. The 3-Piece Lighted Glitter Reindeer Family shows three reindeer in graduated sizes, caught mid-leap with red bows and bells. They're IP44 rated for indoor or outdoor use.
- Clear acrylic. The Set of 3 Lighted Acrylic Reindeer stand 47.2 in tall with 140 cool white LEDs and 8 lighting modes. They connect by USB with a 16.4 ft cable, and the USB adapter is not included, so plan for one.
- Tinsel. A single Lighted Standing Reindeer has a tall antler silhouette, a red bow and 120 warm white LEDs.

Sleighs, Trees and Archways
Once you have a few figures, add pieces that give them a setting.
Sleighs turn reindeer into a story. The Lighted Reindeer and Santa Sleigh Display has 270 warm white LEDs and runs on a low-voltage 30V, 6W power supply. For something playful, the Lighted Christmas Dog and Gift Sleigh has a dog in a Christmas suit pulling a sleigh of gifts on golden reins, with 8 stakes included.
Trees add height and a backdrop. The 6 ft Pre-Lit Pull-Up Christmas Tree has shimmering fabric and 200 warm white LEDs. The Set of 2 Pre-Lit Metal Wire Christmas Trees have star toppers and green and warm white LEDs, and look great flanking a path. For color shows, the 5 ft LED Cone Christmas Tree pairs with your phone for 15 colors and 26 dynamic modes.
Archways make an entrance. The 8.7 ft Artificial Pine Christmas Archway has 1,860 green branches and steel brackets for stability. It's unlit, so wrap it with outdoor-rated string lights for a glowing tunnel over the walkway.

How to Build a Scene
A great yard display feels like a picture, not a collection. Try this simple approach.
- Pick a theme. Santa's departure, a snowy woodland or a winter animal parade all give you a clear direction.
- Choose one anchor. Place your tallest piece where the eye naturally lands, often off-center near the house.
- Build in layers. Tall pieces in back, medium pieces in the middle, small pieces up front.
- Group in odd numbers. Three reindeer or three polar bears look more natural than two.
- Angle figures toward each other. Reindeer facing a sleigh or snowmen facing a tree feel connected.
- Stick to one light color per scene. Warm white and cool white can clash side by side, so group similar tones.
A winter animal parade is an easy theme to start with. The Set of 3 Lighted Polar Bear Family shines with 190 warm white LEDs, and the Set of 2 Lighted Dachshunds wear Santa hats and fold down after the season. Add the Pre-Lit Candy Cane and Red Bow Display or the Pre-Lit 2D Nutcracker Soldier near the door as a welcome.
Power and Setup Tips
- Map outdoor outlets before you place anything, and keep cords out of walkways.
- Use outdoor-rated extension cords and timers, and keep connections off wet ground.
- Stake every figure with the included stakes, especially taller pieces.
- Check which figures are rated for outdoor use. Most here are, but read each listing.
- Follow the manufacturer's instructions for assembly and power.
